2011 “Say On Pay” & Compensation Committees’ Evolving Responsibilities

Schedule: 22 Mar, 2011, 6pm – 7:30pm GMT

Price: $110.00

Overview:
Executive compensation is "under the microscope" by shareholders and regulatory agencies due to the recent global economic crisis, demise of industry giants like Lehman Brothers, and near failures of companies like General Motors, AIG, and Citibank. With the recent additional regulation of executive compensation and golden parachutes approved by the SEC, Compensation Committee members will need to update their charters and responsibilities to reflect these new requirements.

This course will provide a review of the new rules on executive compensation and golden parachutes and discuss the compensation committees’ roles and responsibilities in:
1. Designing, reviewing, and overseeing the organisation’s executive compensation programme
2. Making transparent the strategy and goal of the executive compensation programme, the compensation levels (both present and over the projected future), and the competitiveness of these amounts and plans
3. Determining whether the current programme is meeting its goals
4. Assessing recommendations for changes in accordance with this review
5. Identifying resources and best practices to aid in fulfilling their responsibilities
This course is intended for compensation committee members, HR Practitioners, Business Valuation Professionals and other specialists involved in executive compensation.

Learning Objectives:
* Review the voting and disclosure requirements of executive compensation and golden parachute compensation arrangements as identified by the recently approved Say-On-Pay rules

* Understand the evolving role and responsibilities of a compensation committee

* Establish an effective strategy and structure of an executive compensation programme

* Report executive compensation information effectively so shareholders and interested third parties can make informed decisions

* Understand the role of outside consultants and service providers

* Describe the pattern of review, oversight, and recommendation

Please let me know if you are interested in this webinar. We can also provide a recording of the webinar so you can view it at your convenience.

Overview:
External competitiveness is a prime objective for most organisations, but the approach taken to measure competitiveness may differ from one organisation to another. In fact, competitive objectives may change within the same organisation over time, especially when financial performance fluctuates.

The goal of "market pricing" is to collect and analyze data that will meet the organisational objective of identifying external competitiveness. Market pricing is not an exact science, but a sound and practical approach using summary statistics from published surveys can add validity to the market pricing process.

This webinar will discuss practical guidelines that may be used for identifying, selecting, analyzing, and using market data to complete essential tasks in determining external competitiveness and establishing a competitive market-based pay programme. The importance of communicating the remuneration programme effectively will also be discussed and practical tips will be provided to assist you in “getting the message” to your employees so that they may understand and, ultimately, buy into the programme.

Learning Objectives:

  • How to define your organisation’s remuneration philosophy and market pricing objectives
  • Identification and selection of salary survey sources
  • The importance of matching benchmark jobs
  • How to interpret salary survey data
  • How to determine market rates and competitiveness of current pay
  • Considerations in developing salary ranges
  • Ways to adjust or update a pay structure
  • Tips on communicating the remuneration plan

Compensation Basics Webinar

I have been asked if there is an earlier webinar (9:00-10:30am Pacific time is 5:00-6:30pm in the UK) and the answer is no. However, I found out there will be a recording of the webinar, so if you are interested in that please let me know.

Schedule: Oct 19, 2010, 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM (Pacific). Price: $110.00

Overview:
This introductory Webinar examines methods and processes that support compensation basics such as job analysis, job documentation and job evaluation. Several analysis techniques will be discussed that may be used to obtain important and relevant information about each distinct role performed within an organization for appropriate documentation. Guidelines for conducting a job analysis interview will be provided and suggestions will be given for designing an effective job analysis questionnaire.

Position descriptions provide an important part of the input necessary to maintain an equitable and competitive compensation program, but they also have the potential to be used in a variety of other administrative applications. The importance of various components of a job description that can add value to job documentation will be addressed.

Differences between job analysis and job evaluation will be identified and conceptual differences between various job evaluation methodologies will be defined.

Learning Objectives:

  • Compare differences and appropriate processes used for job analysis, job documentation and job evaluation
  • Review different methods for collecting relevant information about jobs
  • Identify principal types of job documentation
  • Understand the types and importance of information that should be included in job descriptions
  • Design an efficient and effective format for job descriptions
  • Identify primary differences between market-based job evaluation and evaluation of job content or job value
