Update Assessor Series Applications from CD-ROM

Installation Topics

Previously installed Assessor Series™ software databases may be updated from ERI's Platform Library™ quarterly CD-ROM if a valid license code has already been entered for the current year's subscription.

To check if your license is currently valid see Check Your License Code.

To Update Previously Installed Assessor Series Applications

  1. Check the date on the front of the CD-ROM to make sure it is for the most recent quarter.

  2. Place the CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive of your computer. After a few seconds ERI's Platform Library will display. (See Running ERI's Platform Library for more information.)

  3. A dialog box should appear asking if you want to update Assessor Series applications already installed on your PC. (If you are not prompted to update the applications, select To Install | Update Assessors already installed on your computer.) Click Yes.

  4. Please read over the ERI End-User License Agreement displayed on the "License Agreement" screen. If you agree to the terms of the license, please click "I Agree" then click the OK button.

  5. Once Assessor Series applications for the current year are found, they will be automatically updated. If Assessor Series applications for the current year are not found in the default directories, you will be prompted to direct the software to the drive where the applications are installed. Simply follow the instructions on the screen.

After updating the Assessor Series applications, you will automatically be prompted to install the Platform Library. The Platform Library and the additional databases can be run from the CD-ROM and do not have to be installed. If you do not want to install the Platform Library, click the Cancel button, then click the Yes button to abort the installation. If you do want to install the Platform Library, simply follow the instructions on the installation screens.

Please note: There are several different ways that an Assessor Series application may be executed (see Running Assessor Series Applications). If you want to run the Assessor Series software databases via an installed Platform Library, then it is highly recommended that you also update the Platform Library. For example, if you update the Assessor Series applications so that they have a "Data as of" date of 1 January 2002, please run the applications from ERI's Platform Library dated January 2002.
