Install ERI's Platform Library and DLC Wizard from the Internet

If your organization/employer has set up "firewalls" , you may not be able to download an executable file (*.exe) from the Internet.

To Install ERI's Platform Library and DLC Wizard™ from the Internet

Before beginning the download and installation process, please close all programs on your computer, with the exception of the Windows operating system.
Log on to your Internet browser and go to www.erieri.com. Click on the Dataset Updates link at the top of ERI's web site. (You may also reach this site via ERI's Platform Library or any of the Assessor Series™ applications via the Internet menu.
On the "Data Updates" web page, scroll down to the section entitled "ERI's Platform Library & DLC Wizard". Click on the download link (for example "ERIPL & DLCWiz").

(Please note: If the "Data Updates" web page does not display a link for downloading an update for the Platform Library, then please contact ERI for information on where to find this link.)

From the "File Download" dialog box, click "Save this program to disk", then click the OK button. (Please note: "Save this program to disk" refers to saving the installation file to your computer's hard disk, or hard drive. A diskette is not required.)
From the "Save As" dialog box, click the down arrow next to the "Save In" field, then in the drop-down box, select "Desktop".

The file name will automatically be entered for you.

Make certain that the "Save as type" field has "Application" selected.

If all of the information is correct, please click the Save button.

The download process will begin. This process can take anywhere from 30 seconds to 20 minutes, depending on your computer's processor speed and type of Internet connection.
From the "Download Complete" dialog box, please click the Close button.
Double-click the new icon on your Windows Desktop to begin the installation process.
Please follow the instructions on the installation prompts as they appear on your screen.

Please note: Initially, only a partial version of the Platform Library and DLC Wizard will be installed. This is due to the fact that the size of all of the files combined is nearly 360 MB (or the equivalent of 250 floppy diskettes!). This much data would take a very long time to download, regardless of how fast your Internet connection may be, and files would probably be corrupted in the process. However, if, after the initial and partial installation, you open the Platform Library and allow it to remain open, it will continue to download the necessary files in the background while you work.

To view files as they download in the background select Ctrl + F5.
